What an incident looks like
When the verification engine cannot reach a receiving server, addresses come back Unknown rather than being guessed at — and Unknown is never charged. A widespread incident therefore shows up as an unusual number of Unknown results, not as wrong verdicts.
Queued lists are not lost during an incident. Processing resumes from the exact address it stopped at, and no address is charged twice.
Planned maintenance
We announce planned work by email at least 48 hours ahead. Verification continues during most maintenance; where it cannot, jobs queue and run afterwards.
